SUMMER CAMP FOR GLENNIES IN HAAPASAARI, RUOVESI 14. – 16.8.2009

Finnish Glen Association is organising a summer camp for all Glens and Glen people in the middle of August. It will be held in a beautiful Haapasaari that is in Ruovesi, some 70 km’s north of Tampere. The island is located on lake Näsijärvi and there is a very nice camping area with restaurant, cafeteria, several sauna’s, more equipped cabins, typical camping cabins, swimming beaches, minigolf, etc.

There will be all sorts of program and fun together! On top of that, the Glen Specialty with Finnish certificates on stake is introducing Harold Gay as a judge. Together with his wife Liz they are world known Glen breeders (Kennel Malsville) since the 70’s. Harold will be judging Glens also in a little bit more famous dog show, Crufts, next year so now is a good chance to come and give him more practice.

Here is the basic information on the show:
Judging starts at 11.00 with puppies. There are classes for puppies 5 – 7 months and 7 – 9 months and usual adult classes. Entry fee for puppies and veterans (in veteran class) are 29 €, all the other classes are 32 €. The last entry date is 21st July and the entries are paid to Suomen Glennit ry’s account FI11 4108 9020 0526 88, BIC code HELSFIHH. The entry form and the receipt of the payment are sent to Sissi Silvius, Rivitie 2 D, 33430 Vuorentausta. She also answers all your questions about the show should you have any. Program:

Arrival to Haapasaari on Friday the 14th of August according to your own schedule. There is no official program on Friday, one can use the restaurant on the premises and later in the evening we might barbecue some sausages etc by the grill. If asked, Sissi Silvius (kennel Taramont) is more than willing to show some tips on trimming for the nervous ones for the show next day.

15.00 lunch buffet
17.00 – 21.00 sauna and swimming. There is traditional Finnish smoke sauna hot and ready for us and also more normal sauna for more normal people. The saunas are located right by the lake so swimming is a must!
Starting at 20.00 evening snack
At the camping ground there is also a dancing stage where we can dance the day away later on.

10.00 walk together in the woods, some other activities with the dogs, maybe basic training, Senior Handler –competition, etc.
12.00 cabins are checked-out
13.00 lunch buffet

Accommodation:

The cabins are already very occupied, but with little luck there could be one or two still available. On the other hand, there is always space for a tent, caravan or mobile home if that suits your travel arrangements. The cabin prices are fixed for the whole weekend, so if one is staying only one night, it might be more cost-effective if one stayed in a tent. Please contact Sissi if you want to reserve accommodation or have more questions about it. Here are prices for different cabins, but there is really no knowing what types are available at the time you take contact. Right now some cabins are still untaken.

Meal package:

Package that includes all the meals mentioned above (2 x breakfast, 2 x lunch and 1 evening snack) costs 38 € / person. Children aged 6 to 11 half price (19 €). Lunch consists of two warm courses, salad, dessert, coffee / tea, etc. Vegetarians have not been forgotten, they have their own choice.

If you are coming only for the show but would like to have lunch with us on Saturday, please reserve your seat from Sissi anyway. Prepaid lunch costs 9 € / person and paid at the restaurant 13 € plus you risk that there might not be enough plates left!
